Cashews: Paleo or not?

I have heard the question multiple times: Are cashews paleo or not? Several purported paleo diet websites I’ve visited dispute their status as paleo. But here’s some information you may found reassuring:

The true fruit of the cashew tree is a kidney or boxing-glove shaped drupe that grows at the end of the pseudofruit. The drupe develops first on the tree, and then the peduncle expands into the pseudofruit. Within the true fruit is a single seed, the cashew nut. Although a nut in the culinary sense, in the botanical sense the fruit of the cashew is a seed. (from Wikipedia)

So whether we classify the cashew as a nut or a seed, it IS paleo. So enjoy those cashews without worry, paleoites!
